The Circles On The Quilt Go Round And Round, Round And Round…..

image
It’s FINISHED!!!!!!
This started years ago looking like this:

Then it morphed into this:

I cut it into 4 equal strips with no idea what I would do with it.
I figured out how to use them as the border. Next I found this piece of rust to fill in the center.
Finally I found the perfect purple for a design for the center.
I chose to quilt the center motif in a way I had never done before.
The rest of the quilting was done using styles I felt fit the design of the piece.
I tried to carry the circle idea through as many of the layers as possible.
I’m pleased with the completed piece.
Stay tuned as there will be more in this style later!

New Sunprint Piece

image
This is another piece that I started years ago. My goal when I did this layer was to continue with the circle theme.

This is what it looked like before I did the sunprint on it. I had already done 3 layers of printing with thickened dye.
I am not sure if it is done yet.

Sun Printing Successes

first 6 silk sun prints
I was able to create some more sunprinted fabrics today.
Each piece will have a subtle texture on it.
I hope eventually I will be able to combine them all into a successful composition.
Wish me luck!

More Sunpainting

I had no plan as I started painting. I decided to work from the bottles of colors that had been opened and I had duct taped the caps to keep them from evaporating.
I was pleasantly surprised the tape did it’s job and the paint was just fine.

These are the other pieces I painted.
The piece underneath the others is a loosely woven scarf that I used the two colors on.
The top pieces are silk shantung. I paint each one color and added masks on top to add texture. I am not sure if these will remain as they are or if I will add another layer or two?

Circles–Third Layer

I did some sun painting today with Setacolor paints.
Of the 5 or 6 pieces I did this was the best one.
circles 3 layers
This piece was started quite a few years ago. Before I started it today it had two layers of pattern made with thickened dye. Each layer had a circle theme so I wanted to continue that.
I found some circular plastic pieces to use and they were the perfect thing to add layer number 3. I now consider it finished.
