I am seeing a strong color similarity between the quilts I was working on recently.
This is Raindrops 1. I painted these fabrics. I did a smooth gradation in orange on one piece and a spatter painted piece using orange and turquoise. I stacked them and cut them diagonally into strips. I alternated the plain and patterned strips for the base of this quilt
Raindrops 2 uses the alternate strips for the base. After they were fused in place I chose another fabric and added sections of it to each quilt using a different shape and arrangement.
For this quilt I used my Viking Designer 1. I LOVE that machine. It has so many wonderful features and makes sewing and quilting a joy.
I did something new to me to quilt these 2 quilts. I programmed in the rain drop design and quilted it all across the quilt with vareigated thread.
The leaves are done with one of the decorative stitches on my machine. It is not your usual decorative stitch that stitches only about 7mm wide in straight rows. It is called Omnimotion and will stitch patterns are up to 36.5 mm wide. This moves the fabric and you can get these very wide decorative stitches without using a hoop.
I did several units of the stitch to get the effect I wanted for this piece.

The edge finish on these quilts is done by overcasting the edge with a zig zag stitch. I used different values of turquoise thread, different stitch widths and alternated the length between the zig zag. I left thread ends at each corner and tied them in knots for another complementary design element.
