Happy Birthday To My MIddle Child Andy

Andy's goal in life is never to let anyone take a good picture of him.

For his 56th birthday this was his present.

No words necessary until the end.

The message at the end of the book read:
Happy 56th birthday Andy
To my "middle kid" who's goal in life is to never let anyone take a good picture of him.

Love, Your other mother

There were at least 40 photos in the book and you have only seen a few.

The 8th Anniversary Of My 25,000 Day Old Birthday Party

This had to be one of the best parties I’ve ever hosted!
I took NO pictures….I just wanted to enjoy the party and the memories are still fresh in my mind after 8 years.
The photo you see share a few souvenirs from the party.
How lucky am I to have my 25,000 day old birthday fall on Leap Day and on top of that it was a Friday, the day everyone is in a party mood!
My intent was to make all the food…heavy appetizers and desserts. As I mentioned the party to my friends many of them volunteered to bring something and I did little food preparation.
The food was awesome and plentiful. By the end of the evening almost all the food was gone.

M & M’s
My guest list included neighbors, quilting friends, my Village People friends, my card club, my Wisconsin friends now living in the area, and just plain friends.
I made the rules and they were observed since no one had ever been to a 25,000 day old party before.
This was the invitation:

Kay Sorensen’s 25,000 Day Old Party
Yes, that’s 25 THOUSAND
February 29, 2008 XXXXXX That’s my house!
5 pm. Til ????????????
Heavy appetizers,  dessert and beverages
What to wear? Florida Friday night “going out” clothes!!
In case you have never been to a 25,000 day old party I’m including the Etiquette Rules for a 25,000 day old party
Etiquette Rules for a 25,000 Day Old Party
1. You may NOT bring a present
2. No cards unless you can find a card for a 25,000 day birthday celebration
3. It is NOT proper to bring a present
4. If you have adult houseguests they are most welcome
5. PLEASE do not bring a present
6. It’s all about FUN and enjoying the party!
7. Do not bring a present does NOT mean bring a present.
In case you are one of the people I told I won’t really be 25,000 days old until March 1st, I WAS WRONG. I recalculated and the proper date is February 29th. I forgot February had 29 days this year. Oh, well, what can you expect from someone who is almost 25,000 days old!
RSVP to: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Driving and parking Please come in your golf cart if possible. (If you live in The Villages or Ocala do NOT come in your golf cart!)  If you’re driving and can double up it will help the parking situation. And if you live in the neighborhood you can walk!
As guests arrived they were greeted with a hug and a flamingo necklace which set the theme for the party….FLAMINGOES!
I made up a questionnaire and the reward for getting the answers was a flashing flamingo pin! Almost no one completed the questionnaire but it was the best thing I’ve ever done to get people mixing. With friends from such a variety of groups so often people tend to stay in their own little group….not at this party….everyone mixed and met new friends. I did come up with ways to give out almost 50 flashing flamingo pins!
And how many friends attended….64! It had been a cold season and I was thrilled when we had the warmest day and the best weather of any day that month. We were able to have the doors to lanai wide open and people moved back and forth between the great room and the lanai.
If  you are approaching 25,000 days old or any other interesting number I hope you too will have a special unexpected party.
Remember, you are only 25,000 days old ONCE!

This is what 50 looks like!

My oldest son is celebrating his 50th birthday today. How did this happen? I'm not old enough to be the mother of a 50 year old.

His office staff did a fantastic job decorating his office for this significant birthday. The arm you see holding the balloons belongs to Geri, his office manager.

Geri spent a lot of time doing research to make this poster of facts from 1959. I have left this as a very large image so you can click on it and are able to read these facts. His beloved Packers had their first winning season since 1947 in 1959 under the legendary coach Vince Lombardi.
That love of the Packers has continued throughout his life and he is a devoted Packer fan with a extensive Packer wardrobe and Packer memorabilia collection in his home and office.

This large birthday card allowed visitors to his office to add their greeting.

This shows some decorations in the reception area. The streamers, balloons, signs and other decorations filled every single part of the office. I know they worked on this for months and they did a fantastic job. Thanks Geri and the entire staff for being such special people.

Here he is heading down the hallway and getting back to work.

After the workday was over they treated him to a Mexican dinner at the office, presented him with a very special gift and took him to a comedy club in Illinois by limousine.

My Halfy Birthday Present

Today is my halfy birthday. When my sister went to Key West a few weeks ago she bought me a present.
She didn't buy a present for anyone else so I know I am her favorite sister.
She sent it so it would arrive today for my Halfy Birthday. How cool is that?

She sent me 1 yard of 60" wide flamingo fabric direct from Kay West. She thought I could make a quilt or do whatever I want with it. I will be testing ideas of how to use it.

Here's a closeup of the fabric. As many of you know I collect tasteful flamingos. Don't you think this is a tasteful flamingo item?
Thank you Connie for the present and also for picking me your favorite sister!!!

My friend Judy came all the way from Wisconsin to help me celebrate my Halfy Birthday. We lounged around and enjoyed the beautiful weather. We went over to Market Square at The Villages and had dinner at Up The Creek. We both enjoyed it, but as usual I failed the test and didn't take any photos.

I have had a question about how to do my puzzles. To start just double click on the puzzle and it will come up in a new window with all the pieces ready for you to put together. To start just put your cursor on a puzzle piece and move it around until you find another piece it belongs with. Continue to do this until you get all the pieces put together. If you would like to do an easier version of the puzzle just click "Change cut" and you can select from the various cuts with different numbers of pieces.

Tonight I'm using the Halfy Birthday card I sent myself for the puzzle.
