January To December, We Had Moments To Remember!

[Rainbow+log+cabin%5B12%5D]
In January I finished this miniature quilt that I had started about 20 years earlier. The quilt is about the size of a piece of notebook paper. Each log is 1/4 inch wide. It was a great way to use color to create a show stopper.

FEBRUARY was a time to dye fabric, design and create quilts while I enjoyed the Winter Olympics. It also was a time to enjoy seeing my Florida friends and family.
image
MARCH marked the opening of FLORIDA ICE, my solo show at the Ocala City Hall. The opening reception brought guests from Florida, Wisconsin, North Carolina and other parts of the country. What a high for me to be able to share my work in this beautiful setting with those who appreciate fine art.

APRIL brought my son Greg and daughter in law Julie to Florida for a visit and to see my show.

MAY
On May 10th, 2018 at 2:30 pm the 1,000,000 visitor visited my blog. No, I do not know who it was.

JUNE
My entire Minnesota family was able to visit at the same time. This rarely happens anymore as jobs and school and activities prevent it.

JULY
In July I hung a variety of fabrics on my design wall so that they could tell me what they wanted to be and some of them did.

AUGUST
In August I had some home updates done. I gathered various things I had collected and this is one of the cabinets that new life was breathed into.

SEPTEMBER
A major studio purge and reorganization was finished in September.

OCTOBER
My Florida family celebrated Halloween in style and costume. Of course food also was an important part of it as it is of all our celebrations.

NOVEMBER
Thanksgiving with the Florida is always delicious. These are the youngest members of the family and they are all so special.

DECEMBER
I had always thought this was a high school student in Edon, Ohio dressed up as Santa Claus. I have spent the last 10 or more years trying to find out who it was. With no one knowing who it was we have come to the conclusion it must have been the REAL SANTA!.

I finished 28 quilts this year. 3 of them had been started a LONG time ago and the others were new. My goal is to finish more than that each year, but I have learned in a year I have a solo show I am lucky to get anything finished unless I need to finish if for the show.

FLORIDA ICE Is Ocala history

image
Julie and Greg got to see my show at City Hall today. It is a long way from Minnesota and we are having perfect weather for their short visit.
After we took pictures we took the show down, packed it up and brought it home.
It was special for me to be able to have a show of my work in Florida, my second home.
That meant I have had two major solo shows in a little over a year.
Thanks everyone for visiting the show, commenting and acquiring some of my work.

What Is On Today’s Agenda?

Good vibrations and A whole blue world

My son Greg and DIL Julie arrived last night so they could see my show before it ends.
We will arrive before the show will be taken down at 1 pm and see the show and take some pictures and possible a few short videos.

Then with the Cultural Arts Coordinator we will take the show down, pack it up and bring it home.

The show opened on March 16th. It’s hard to believe it is over. The time went way too fast.

I hope if you live close to Ocala or were travelling through you saw the show.
Or maybe you can get there today between 8 am and noon to see it before it comes down since the City Hall opens at 8 am.

This is the only solo showing of my work in Florida and it has been very well received.
It was a pleasure to work with the Cultural Arts Department and I was extremely pleased the way they showed the work as ART.

Tomorrow Tomorrow, It Ends Tomorrow…FLORIDA ICE

If you haven’t visited my solo show at the Ocala City Hall tomorrow is your LAST chance to see it.
florida Ice poster 2
Each and every piece in the show is ice dyed by me.
I use a different fabric manipulation on each one. My goal is to create ART, not copy something I’ve already done.
Everything starts with white fabric and it is dyed in my Florida studio. The finishing of each tapestry is done in my Wisconsin studio.
This is the first and ONLY show of my work scheduled in Florida.
I hope you can steal a little time from your day to see the show if you haven’t already, or if you have and would like to see it again please visit.

For those of you who have visited the show it’s a way to rekindle the memories of what you saw.
It is at Ocala City Hall, 110 SE Watula Ave (corner of Ft King). Open today and tomorrow 8 am – 5 pm and then its Ocala history.
Don’t miss it if there is any possible was to get there. The reviews and comments have been nothing but great.

3, 2, 1 And Florida Ice Will Be History

No matter how much I post about the Show online you really have to see it in the amazing venue where the emphasis is on showing ART to really appreciate the work,
Each piece in the show started as white fabric and was ice dyed to achieve these glorious results.
I do realize distance prevents many of you from attending. I am doing my best to share some of the work.

                                    JEWEL BOX
This has a unique coloration and lots of unintentional hidden things for you to see. I hope you enjoy it.
Yes, you only have today, tomorrow and Thursday and then FLORIDA ICE will be Ocala history. It has been an honor to have been selected to show my work here as ART.
