Size Matters When You View A Quilt

When I look at this quilt I made years ago in a reduced size and the landscape orientation I see a secondary pattern I didn't see when looking at the actual quilt.

When I look at the actual quilt this is what I see.  I call this a blankie size quilt which is perfect for taking a nap. This has been used a lot over the years and the batting is now thin and flat. It is hand quilted.

Pretty quilt! It is amazing how different things can look. I am making courthouse square blocks now and I don't see the overall pattern when putting the blocks on the table, but when I take a picture and look at the picture, I can see it clearly. Maybe because in real life, my eye is looking at each block at a time, or a section at a time, and the photograph lets me see the whole thing as a whole.
