Ice Dyed Tapestries And Shibori Quilts-A View From The Windows

I have mentioned the gorgeous setting of the Anderson Arts Center on Lake Michigan in previous posts. Anyone who visits the center can not forget the great views out the windows that add to the ambience.
image
This view is from “Mrs. Anderson’s bedroom” on the second floor of the Anderson Arts Center. wouldn’t you love to wake up to this view of the lake every morning and watch the changing seasons?

Another view of the lake and the rocks from a different window.

This view out the full length windows/doors is looking south.

This view is looking north at the Kemper Center which is now a county park. It was originally an Episcopalian girls boarding school. It now has many functions with banquet hall, a chapel and so much more.
As I write this post I can not forget the first visit to the Anderson Arts Center by someone who showed little interest in art. He was more than impressed with the show that was hanging at that time. But I’ll never forget his remark “I could live here!”
Who couldn’t live here if this were a private home and one had a staff to take care of it! But then you wouldn’t have all the art that is featured in the shows each year.

Sharing This Beautiful Vista With You

image
Today is another one of those perfect days with sunshine, ideal temperatures, slight breeze and low humidity.
I had to share it with you and you can look in all directions and pretend you are here on the lanai with me.

It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

image
No I am not talking about Christmas, snow and all that embraces.
It is perfect Florida weather now. We have had strange weather here just like everywhere…hot/old/hot/cold, etc.
It is now beautiful tropical weather and most days a fan with it’s gentle breeze is all that is necessary…no AC.
It is also the beginning of the quieter season as some snowbirds have left. I used to be a snow bird….now I am a chicken….A chicken doesn’t leave until the weather up north warms us to some degree.
So while I enjoy all my time here, this is what I love most.

A perfect day with my BFF’s Robbie and Nancy! we had a little sharing of what we’ve been up to and then went to our favorite beach for lunch.

The view from our table! Look at that gorgeous sky and the fluffy clouds. What more could anyone ask for?

Robbie took all these pictures and I am just borrowing them from her!

Can’t Get Enough Of Eatons Beach

First of all I have to thank my BFF Sally for introducing me to Eatons Beach.

image

This is a view from the parking lot. You can’t begin to  imagine what is yet to come as you enter.

image

I’ve yet to venture down to the Sandbar, but I will on one of my visits.

image

These are some of the unique chairs you can sit on as you wait or just admire the view.

image

The sandy beach and the view as far as the eye can see.

image

I have been remiss in posting food pictures lately.

My Citrus Glazed Salmon Salad was out of this world delicious. I took home enough for a filling dinner too.

image

Jean declared her Shrimp and Garlic Pasta excellent and also had enough for tonight’s dinner.

image

I was so busy posting reunion photos last week I didn’t get a chance to post this photo of Tom Hansen relaxing on one of the decks after dinner at Eatons Beach.

Yes, I shall return again and again as there are so many things I’m looking forward to trying. After that I’ll be returning to eat my favorites once again.

Oh What A Beautiful Day!

Blue skies smiling on me, nothing but blue skies do I see!

Today the temperature is in the mid 60's with a gentle breeze, a welcome change from the chilly weather most of the country has been experiencing.

When I realized this I threw on a jacket and went for a 40 minute walk. I started out with a buttoned up jacket and a scarf as you never know how strong the wind will be. Didn't take long to wrap the jacket around my waist and carry the scarf.

When I got back I took the photo you see. The grass is brown but that is what usually happens when it gets cold here. It has always come back to green eventually. I have never seen the palm trees look this brown. I have no idea if they will survive.

I got out the crock pot and added the ingredients for my daughter in law Julie's Italian beef.
I am going to make a second exception to not putting recipes on my blog and share this with all of you. It's just too good and easy not to.

ITALIAN BEEF
Chuck roast 2 1/2-3 lbs
12 oz beer
1/4 c soy sauce
1 pkg (envelope) Good Seasons Italian Dressing
Put all ingredients in crock pot and cook for 6 hours or until meat is tender.
Remove from crock pot and discard bones and fat.
You can make this a day ahead and refrigerate before taking it off the bones. This makes it easier to remove the fat.
Serve on buns.
I usually make more than I think I'll need since it freezes well. Today I am making a double batch.

As I was about to go out and sit on the lanai and write this post the doorbell rang.
It was UPS with my book. I had a book printed with the photos and text from the first 4 months of my blog posts. Of course I had to open it right away. I'll tell you more about it later.

I've selected my Blue skies photo for the puzzle so you too can enjoy a beautiful day where ever you are!
