I Have OCD - Think Color!

I was quite taken with this display of Peeps in our local Publix store.

After taking this photo and looking at it, it was all I could do to NOT contact the store manager and tell him they had these in the wrong color order.

They should have placed the pink on the left, followed by the orange, the yellow , the green, the blue and the violet for a rainbow order of colors.

Would this bother you?

I wonder if sales would have increased had they placed them in rainbow order? It sure would have made me want to buy a package in EACH color, even though I don't eat Peeps!

THIS JUST IN: I hear Peeps taste good if they are frozen!

I admit it. I have obsessive color disorder! Or maybe I have obsessive color order disorder?

Do you think this quilt would have been as effective as it is if I had mixed up the color order?

Do you think this would have had the same impact it has if I had mixed up the colors?

What would have happened if I had arranged these colored quilt blocks in a random order? This is one of the 8 Millennium quilts I made for my grandchildren. Each one had 2000 different pieces of fabrics. I made blocks of 25 squares and each block contained one color.

There are many other ways to arrange colors, but sometimes nothing beats a rainbow or color flow order.

Your quilts are beautiful - and the peeps are all wrong!

I'm not sure I would have realized just why the peeps arrangement was wrong, but I know that it is wrong. I probably would have thought it was the proportions - two vertical rows of all colors except lavender and gold. THAT disturbs me, too.

Ann,
I'm guessing the single and two rows maybe a result of either the most popular ones in terms of sales or the ones the suppliers sent most of.

to me the peeps are placed with contrast in mind...thus each color zings the one next...hehe..maybe I have odd ..oppositional defiance disorder

I think you tickled me so much, because I would have thought the exact same thing...

Kay

I have mugs in all rainbow colours and of course I arrange them 'correctly'. When friends stay and help with the dishes, they don't seem to be aware of the colour order. It's one of my few OCD weaknesses. I too would be wanting to rearrange the store...

HI Kay - Thanks for commenting on my vat dye pictures. When I saw this post I just had to add to my blog. Take a look at the Wrong-color quilt

I love it when someone shows how there is NOT one Right or Wrong answer.
There are many correct answers and yours is fun, exuberant and lovely.

Thank kyou SO much for sharing it.

Kay,
Don't you mean that we are your kind of 'peep'le? lol
I would have wanted them in order too along with having an equal number of rows for each color.
The purple and orange peeps need to stand up for their equal rights to be eaten!!

This post made me smile!!! And then I had to agree...color order and number of rows are both 'off'....

It also reminded me I need to go buy some Peeps and liberate them from their plastic, let them breathe the air!!!! :)
