I Know Where I’m Going!

image

This piece has been on my design wall for almost a year.  Late last night I finally was able to finish the piecing.

The yellow sections around the edges needed some trimming and adjusting to achieve my final vision.

It was a few minutes after midnight when I sewed the last stitch.

Yes, I will be trimming the edges, but I may not do that until after I quilt it….or I may do a slight trim before I quilt it.

The good news, when I took the pictures this morning the quilting design all became clear in my head.

When this happens I can’t wait to start working on the next step.

That is a really fabulous feeling (when you know where things are headed. I love the interplay between the pattern in the fabrics and the piecing you've done. Are those hand dyes?

Isn't it a wonderful feeling when you know where your going? The textures of your dyeing in this piece are magnificent. And I love your abstract piecing. It suites the fabric very well. How will you quilt it?
I always struggle with the balance between surface design and free motion quilting design.

This is gorgeous! It's also a design I would have no idea how on to quilt - how have you decided to do it? I'm good at quilting designs on plain backgrounds but on patterns I struggle.

Kay, I absolutely love how that upper left corner extends, echoing the shibori blue green protrusion at the middle on the right side. Hope you'll keep it!
