Sunrise - Sunset Quilt - Top Pieced And Pressed
It didn't take long at all to piece this. In fact it took longer to cut the strips than it did to sew it.
This is the first photo I took to show you how it is coming together.
I'm heading for the home stretch now with the piecing.
The piecing is complete.
Now it is time for the dreaded pressing.
That wasn't bad - The pressing is done and all that is left is to finish it.
If there is anything about this I don't like, it is too bad. I am so glad I decided to add the black and white spacers between the strips. I think they added a lot. It would have been too "blendy" without them! It is pieced and no changes will take place.
I can't wait to get this layered as the machine quilting should be very enjoyable.

Those spacers really help 'make' the quilt...good thinking! I love it! I'd like to make a strippy quilt some time and may use your idea of spacers to break it up and add interest.
The b&w pieces remind me of those white moths that are attracted to the light.
LOVE the spacers and the quilt. Sometimes we need mindless sewing.
Really nice piece. Those spacers make it - it would have been very bland otherwise. Good thinking
You really do have a way with pattern and color Kay......fun to see what you are doing.
B&W Serendipity works! It should please anyone who uses it.
We have the same philosophy. Adding a little black and white always adds that sparkle that a quilt needs.
I just insert my cat oreo!
What a clever use of a pattern! A wonderful piece.
Love those 'spacers' also, really add interest. May borrow that idea for my 'strippy' quilt not sewn together yet. Very basic in colours, but a little red should bring it alive.
It has been a while since I commented Kay... but I am always inspired! I really like this one, a lot.
i love this! i think spontaneous quilting is the best by far...but i don't claim to be "arty"
The B&W spacers "make" this lovely quilt zing.Clever girl.

I agree, the spacers are a perfect touch. Quilting this should be fun!
Kay - this one just says spring! Great way to take the eye right into the quilt, the black and white spacers are the "zing".
Have fun quilting.

Wonderful quilt -- ditto what everyone is saying about the spacers. nifty use of design in fabric to make it look like you pieced little blocks... love it.
Very nice. I really like the spacer blocks. It causes me to really see the fabrics. They don't all just blend together.

I thought, oh man why did she choose that fabric for the spacers? Then when I saw the quilt all pressed, it was amzaing!
You chose the perfect fabric for the spacers! LOL.

I too think the "spacers" are very effective. So you are just about "finished"..... way to go...
Ditto, ditto, ditto. I think this will be my next comfort quilt. Thanks.
