2013 in 2013

image

I just got this crazy idea. I’m going to try to get rid of 2013 items in 2013.

I didn’t start this until a few days ago so I’m a little behind, but I hope I can make it up.

I can get rid of them by selling them on eBay, giving them to someone, donating them somewhere or for things past their prime…throwing them in the trash.

As of today I only have to get rid of 2001 more things!

I think this is going to be a real challenge as I have been working on this for the last few years and there is less to dispose of.

Having this goal is making me think of what I have that I no longer need and how I can pass those things on to someone. In fact I jumped up and did start looking for more things before I finished this post!

Anyone else want to join me in this challenge?

Fabulous idea.....the thought of doing that myself makes me itch.....I'll be cheering you on though. You'd think after ridding ourselves of 'stuff' when we moved from WI to NC that would be the end of excesses....Nope...we've recollected!

I'm getting tired just looking at the stack on the table! Good luck...

Kudos to you. I got into the gut, purge, clean and organize mode a couple weeks before Christmas and I think I did a pretty good job of it. After putting everything in the middle of the room and going through it before it went back to its home, I even made a list of things that I wanted to get completed....some of which I hadn't seen for awhile because it was lost in the bowels of the closet or cupboard. I am making a dent in that (2-page) list and as much as I hated to admit how many things have been left undone in that room for so long, I am feeling pretty good about checking things off the list. So...I wish you luck.

It is a tad scary...as I have gotten rid of a "life" 25 years ago and just like Mary have recollected and MORE. I suppose if the 2013 items don't have to be just sewing things........ I sure have two or three times that number of things just laying around....... really I would be crazy to take the challenge and then again I would be crazy to NOT take the challenge........ 2013 divide by 12 167+ things a month divide by 30 equals 5 and a half things a day..... wonder how long I would last????

OK I am in on the challenge.... so are your yogurt cups going to count as one or as a dozen? Just askin' to be sure I don't cheat....

Of course they don’t have to be sewing items – in fact if I get rid of other things I’ll feel lighter and will do have the energy to create more!
I would say a bunch of yogurt cups count as ONE!
Don’t have to do 5 ½ a day – some days we might be able to do 20 or more and other days NONE.
I’m getting a bunch of stuff ready to take to my quilt meeting this week to share.
IMHO it is important to take time to do fun stuff and not spend all the time purging – a little of this and a little of that!

Wow that is a big job 2013 items! I try and start each year by culling and simplifying my sewing room and home, but it works for a few weeks then I find I keep putting things back. Best of luck to you.

You are too funny and I was laughing out loud when I read this...I would love to jump in on the fun but don't think I would get very far....but I'm making an attempt to clean out.....thread by thread...
