Me And My Shadow - Snow Dyed Mandalas

I put these two mandalas on my design wall this morning.
I intend to combine them for a quilt.
I am pleased with the combination. I will not know if it is successful until I piece it. I could take photographs, print them and cut them up and play with them, but then I'd have already made the quilt and there would be no reason to make it with fabric.

This is a closer view of the mandala on the left.

This is a closer view of the mandala on the right.

I think they will work perfectly together for the effect I want.

First of all, I love these two pieces together! Judy does an amazing job of dyeing fabric, that's for sure! Thank you for sharing your process of designing a quilt with us! I love what you said about taking a picture, piecing with paper, and then that would already be making it and take away of the drama of making it with the fabric. It's scary to cut into such gorgeous fabric, but then that's art! I just always get stuck at this point because I'm afraid of messing up. But since I've started dying my own fabric, I've become braver because I know that I can dye some more! Can't see how this will turn out!

DON'T BE AFRAID!
It's only fabric.

It's all cut out and I've started sewing.

I only made one miscut/miscalculation and since it's fabric I can adjust the design.

Can't wait to finish sewing it together.

Beatiful fabric. You have me rethinking snow dyeing.
